After performing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra earlier this year as part of NAIDOC week, Dan Sultan is heading to Adelaide for a special show with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (ASO) at the Festival Theatre.
A celebration of Sultan’s third album Blackbird, the one-off performance brings to a close this year’s ASO season and will be Sultan’s first collaboration with the ASO.
“I’m so excited to be working with the ASO,” he said in a statement, adding that “putting this show together is all a bit of a dream and I can’t wait for us all to perform in Adelaide’s gorgeous Festival Theatre and treat local audiences to my many songs.”
Aaron Whyatt will conduct the ASO with orchestral arrangements from Alex Turley. Original artwork from Sultan’s longtime collaborator Jarra Karalinar Steel will also be part of the performance.
Tickets for the show are on sale now via the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra website.

Released in 2014, Blackbird was critically acclaimed by critics and peaked at #4 on the ARIA Album Charts. Tone Deaf said the album “epitomises everything a good Australian rock album should be” while The Music awarded Blackbird 4/5 stars.
ASO CEO Colin Cornish believes Sultan and the ASO performing together is a fitting close to what has been an exceptional 2024 season.
“We are thrilled our final performance of the year will be a powerful and memorable collaboration with the extraordinary Dan Sultan. This partnership marks a fitting close to our 2024 season and I cannot imagine a better way to close out an incredible year.”
Catch Dan Sultan with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, December 14 at the Festival Theatre. Tickets on sale now via the ASO.
