Less than a month out from the release of Budjerah’s debut album, Gentleman, out Friday 24 July via Warner Music Australia, the smooth crooner has shared new single ‘Even At My Worst’.

A soulful pop song with an old school vibe, ‘Even At My Worst’ was penned by acclaimed songwriter Diane Warren (Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Cher, Celine Dion) and produced by Grammy Award-winning Om’Mas Keith (Frank Ocean, John Legend, Jay-Z).

“I was very lucky to meet one of my songwriting heroes, Diane Warren, at her studios in Los Angeles,” explains Budjerah. “She gave me the song, and it really took me back to when I started writing myself, and my parents were supporting me the whole way. The lyrics reflected the gratitude I wanted to express to them for always supporting me. So this is my gratitude song.”

‘Even At My Worst’ is accompanied by a music video directed by Budjerah. Filmed in his hometown of Fingal Head, the video features Budjerah’s family and friends and reflects the sense of community that can be heard in the song.

Produced by Om’Mas Keith, Gentleman is a snapshot of who the real Budjerah is. Comprising 11 tracks inspired by R&B and contemporary pop music, ‘Even At My Worst’ follows previous singles ‘Could I Be’, ‘Gentleman’ and ‘Want You Back’.

Since dropping his electrifying 2000 debut single ‘Missing You’, Budjerah has amassed a mammoth 60 million combined career streams across all platforms, achieved Platinum status for his 2023 single ‘Therapy’ and won two ARIA Awards (Breakthrough Artist in 2021 and Best Soul/R&B Release in 2022). Budjerah has also won an APRA Award for Most Performed R&B/Soul Work for ‘Higher’ and contributed the theme song to Baz Luhrmann's 2023 television series Faraway Downs.

When it comes to performing, Budjerah opened for Ed Sheeran in 2023, dueted with Kylie Minogue on ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ at the QANTAS gala and has shared the stage with Cyril, Becca Hatch and Jacob Banks.
