Ahead of their appearance at Glastonbury Festival this weekend, UK indie favourites Bloc Party has released new single, ‘Flirting Again’.
Sounding similar to their 2013 loosey ‘Ratchet’, this latest song from the quartet harks back to the band’s mid-00s electronic-influenced period that produced 2009’s Intimacy and 2012’s Four.
Fans of Bloc Party will no doubt enjoy the feelings of nostalgia ‘Flirting Again’ conjures, with the song a return to form after several disappointing releases.

“‘Flirting Again’ is about being thrust back into the scene and trying to remember how it all works,” Kele Okereke said in a press release.
“It’s about trying to appear desirable, whilst at the same time hiding the hurt that defines you. We are all carrying around the various scars that we have accumulated over the years, the heartbreaks that have come to shape how we give love and receive love. This song is about picking yourself up and carrying on.”
Having gone through several lineup changes over the years, Bloc Party currently comprises original members Okereke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, sampler) and Russell Lissack (lead guitar, synthesizers) alongside Louise Bartle (drums, percussion) and bassist Harry Deacon.
The band’s last studio album was 2022’s Alpha Games, with the quartet also releasing the four-track EP The High Life last year.
