Founded in 1981, Big Country hit the big time a few years later with the release of their debut album, The Crossing, which included the monster single, ‘Big Country’.
The band dropped four albums throughout the ‘80s before their commercial appeal waned. Despite this, the band garnered a cult following that led to a further four albums in the ‘90s and constant touring before the death of founding member Stuart Adamson resulted in Big Country disbanding.
The remaining members reunited to celebrate Big Country’s 25th anniversary in 2007 and have continued to tour as a band, with the current lineup comprising sole original member Bruce Watson performing alongside his son, guitarist Jamie Watson, vocalist and guitarist Tommie Paxton, drummer Reece Dobbin and bassist Chris Stones.
As the press release states, expect “big guitars, big drums and big checks on their shirts” when Big Country make their Australian return this October.
