Becca Hatch Shares New Single 'Extra Time'

Ahead of the release of Becca Hatch's new project, Black Flower EP, the Kamilaroi and Samoan powerhouse has shared new single 'Extra Time'.

Hatch worked on the track with longtime collaborator Lucy Blomkamp (6lack, Ninajirachi, Sycco), crafting a sonic delight that merges modern R&B with euphoric electro flourishes.

"'Extra Time' is about loving someone so deeply that time seems to disappear when you're with them," explains Hatch. "Hours turn into seconds. While the song leans pop and dance, the sentiment is personal and intimate. It feels like a direct love letter."

Black Flower finds Hatch addressing womanhood, identity, love and self-discovery through the lens of her Kamilaroi and Samoan heritage and includes production from Blomkamp, Beso Palma and Sean Kenihan, alongside mixing by Cam Parkin and mastering by Klaus "Heavyweight" Hill.

Speaking about the release, Hatch comments, "Black Flower explores what it means to be a young woman; specifically an Aboriginal/Samoan woman, growing, evolving, and learning how to take up space. It is about becoming, about unfolding into yourself while moving through a world that was never designed to hold women of colour gently."

'Extra Time' arrives as Hatch becomes Spotify's latest RADAR AU/NZ artist and campaign ambassador, which has seen her face plastered on billboards and her music featured all over Spotify.

The emerging artist has also received an ARIA Award nomination for Best Soul/R&B Release for 'Garden (Bang Goes The Drum)' and has also been announced as Support Act's Aus Music T-Shirt Day On Rotation ambassador.

Since emerging through triple j Unearthed High’s Indigenous Initiative, Hatch has hit many incredible career milestones, including performing with Coldplay at two sold-out Sydney stadium shows in 2024, supporting international artists Tinashe and Mahalia and performing at Beyond The Valley, Strawberry Fields and Half Time Show.

Hatch's upcoming Black Flower EP marks the next chapter in her ever-evolving career as she looks to stamp her place within Australia’s contemporary music landscape.
