After selling out shows during his last visit to Australia in 2021, Ben Elton returns to our shores in 2025 with his brand new comedy show Authentic Stupidity.
The British funnyman believes the world has changed dramatically since his last tour, and although experts claim artificial intelligence is the biggest threat to the human species, Elton believes it’s actually Authentic Sutpidty.
“The verdict’s in! Humanity is thick! Homo halfwit. The idiot branch of the Ape family!” Elton claims. “We need signs to tell us to step off escalators, we elect gibbering fools to lead us and now we’ve invented Artificial Intelligence which is actually going to replace us! I’ve spent 45 years in comedy exploring the outer limits of human idiocy and my mission has never been more timely. Forget AI! It’s AS we need to be worrying about!”
Elton’s nine-date Authentic Stupidity tour begins at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Thursday, March 13 and continues at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Saturday, March 15, Adelaide’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on Tuesday, March 18, Sydney’s City Recital Hall on Friday, March 21, Canberra’s Theatre on Wednesday, March 26 and Wollongong’s Anita’s Theatre on Friday, March 28. The final three stand-up performances take place at Newcastle’s Civic Theatre on Saturday, March 29, Brisbane’s The Fortitude Music Hall on Tuesday, April 1 and Gold Coast’s HOTA on Friday, April 4.
