'The Shawshank Redemption' Is Coming To Her Majesty's Theatre In 2027

Direct from the UK, a new production of The Shawshank Redemption is heading our way in 2027.

The Shawshank Redemption: Live On Stage is based on horror author Stephen King's novella of the same name that tells an unforgettable story of hope, friendship and the resilience of the human spirit.

The story follows Andy Dufresne, wrongly convicted of murdering his wife and her lover, who is sentenced to life imprisonment in the notorious Shawshank prison. As he comes to terms with his situation, Dufresne becomes friends with fellow inmate Red while dealing with the corrupt Warden.

Adapted for the stage by Owen O’Neill and Dave Johns, this production stars acclaimed television, film and theatre actor David Berry (Outlander, A Place To Call Home, Home and Away) as Dufresne, prolific stage and television actor Bert LaBonté (The Book of Mormon, Colin From Accounts, Cloudstreet) as Red and Australian screen actor Rodger Corser(Doctor Doctor, Rush, Channel 9’s The Floor) as The Warden.

One of King's most celebrated stories, The Shawshank Redemption was adapted for the big screen in 1994, starring Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman and Clancy Brown as the three leads.

The film was a critical and commercial success, receiving seven Academy Award nominations and going down as one of the great flicks of the '90s.

The upcoming Australian stage production of The Shawshank Redemption is proudly presented by Impresario Productions by arrangement with Bill Kenwright Limited.
