SINES – ‘IN THE END’

Since the digital revolution, musicians have discovered and utilised inventive ways of releasing their art. Adelaide’s progressive alternative rock outfit SINES have embraced this by releasing their debut self-titled album track-by- track since March 2022. ‘In The End’ is the final song of the LP and it closes this courageous composition remarkably.

Beginning with a tender guitar-driven atmosphere that Jeff Beck would adore, the track swirls in a heart-rending way while vocalist Caitlyn Hearne bares her soul about love and loss. The song follows a Circa Survive-fused-with- Karnivool instruction, with some breathtaking symphonic delicacies until about the three-quarter mark, when a Marty Friedman-inspired guitar solo elevates ‘In The End’ to an adrenaline-fuelled inferno.

This energy continues with the entire quintet building to a musical eruption before a sensational surrender: Ms Hearne truly shines, her angelic voice running wild and delivering flawless poetry. It closes with the stirring lyrics, “Must come crashing down/In the end” wrapping up a single that exhibits all the power of a Broadway theatre performance.

Sounds like: Lzzy Hale collaborating with The Butterfly Effect for an award-winning film score.
