PINK DUKE – ‘LONG WAY DOWN’
SINGLE
Independent
You know how some music is written to be played at a festival? The balmy air, the ground littered with crushed cans and the glow of a stage in the distance as you tear across the uneven grass to catch the next set. If you close your eyes, you can almost imagine yourself there while listening to Pink Duke’s latest release, ‘Long Way Down’.
A tasteful slice of neo-psychedelic, the track is led by twinkling, swirling guitar and distorted vocals. The booming chorus conjures up stadium energy – it’s catchy with strong pop sensibilities and is what makes the song stand out in the sea of a genre that’s too often awash with tired, Woodstock era rip-offs.
‘Long Way Down’ is fresh – a re-crafting of a sound that’s classic, yet has more in common with the indie flavours of Tame Impala than it does with its spiritual predecessors. Pop it on for your next late night beach drive.
Sounds like: Sunset at a festival.
