Teenage Joans – ‘My Heart’s Dead!’

Ahead of their national tour, dynamic duo Teenage Joans share their explosive new single ‘My Heart’s Dead!’. Doing their best to answer the age-old question of what it would sound like if Ke$ha made a song with blink-182, they deliver a bratty pop punk wonder with a punchy riff that builds on the band’s rich indie punk palette.

Sounds like: Punk pop goodness.

Kuiper – ‘Kinetics’

When the machines finally take over the world, it’s not hard to believe a tune like ‘Kinetics’ will be part of their World Domination playlist. An ambient wedge of instrumental flourishes that ebb and flow towards a slightly menacing climax before slowly fading into the ether, ‘Kinetics’ would also fit nicely on Trent Reznor’s The Social Network soundtrack.

The Tullamarines – ‘Idiot’

The loss of a friendship is usually a depressing time, but The Tullamarines turn this grief into an indie dance party with ‘Idiot’. Addressing the ache of missed connections, this is three minutes of feel-good instrumentation that will leave a warm feeling in your heart and have you reaching for the phone to tell your mates how much ya love them.

Sounds like: Platonic love.

Eva Rundle – ‘Figure It Out’

Female pop is having a moment, with the latest emerging local artist to take the modern synth-pop sound by the scruff of the neck being Eva Rundle. The foundation of ‘Figure It Out’ is a driving beat that allows Rundle’s bubblegum vocals to swirl around the electronic arrangement before things take a welcome turn into ‘80s sax territory. So good!
