MARLON X RULLA – ‘TRAUMA PATIENT’
SINGLE

MARLON X RULLA keep showing us why they’re the ones to watch in the Australian music scene.
The dynamic First Nations duo dropped ‘Trauma Patient’ in late August, a call to action that asks its listeners to re- evaluate if they’re truly acting as an ally. It’s a powerful statement, one delivered through slick production, soulful vocals and spicy bars.
Through thought-provoking and, at times, hard-hitting lyrics, MARLON X RULLA hold a mirror up to the society we exist in. “Tell me why you acting so shady, covering the scars you gave me?” Marlon asks, levelling with institutions that exhibit a hollow version of respect under the guise of allyship after years of inflicting pain. The energy arrives from Rulla’s impactful raps, which continue to build in potency until the track gives way to its stirring bridge.
You can hear the influence of A.B. Original throughout (the song is produced by Trials, one half of the hip-hop duo), but there’s a distinct MARLON X RULLA stamp on ‘Trauma Patient’. With three releases under their belt, we’re eagerly waiting to see what this duo does next.
Sounds like: An important wake-up call.
