As anticipation builds ahead of the release of The Avalanches' fourth studio album, the trio of Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi and Andy Szekeres have revealed No Bad Memories is set to drop Friday 16 October via EMI Australia.

Inspired by the way "advertising and name-brand technology wraps itself around our memories", the record features a stacked lineup of collaborators, including Portraits of Tracy, who appears on the album's latest single, 'Can't Get Over Losing You'.

"Tracy is a hilarious, brave and tender human being who Tony and I have become very close to over the years we’ve been making music together," says Chater of Tracy. "Almost weekly another song arrives... ‘I made something new...what do you guys think!?' And they’re always SO good. Every single song! Tracy's production and mixing is insane, but it's her voice and songwriting that break my heart time after time, truly a generational talent! We feel very fortunate to make music together."

Portraits of Tracy adds, "Working with The Avalanches was such an awesome experience! I don’t find myself collaborating too often with peeps, but as soon as we connected it felt just right. We started the song in 2024 & rerecorded it/finished it in 2025, and now she just sounds lovely!"

Talking more about the album, the band released a joint statement: "It's been interesting as adults to reflect on this often stunning period of marketing - the creativity, filmmaking, photography and music -  but which was also - you know, selling a completely unobtainable dream. The way we value devices and products;  the way we reflect and represent ‘a life lived’; the wonder of memory and deep power of nostalgia, especially in sound. Revisiting imagery and jingles from childhood and realising how profoundly they have stuck…Taking these sound sources from within the heart of this kinda corporate framework and flipping the fragments into our own kind of joyous pop music…eventually we arrived at this world of No Bad Memories."

The Avalanches are regarded as one of Australia's greatest electronic outfits, with their 2000 debut album, Since I Left You, a bona fide classic.

Since I Left You took sampling to a new level, selling over 1 million copies across the globe and accumulating over 700 million streams, which is insane.

The Avalanches followed up in 2016 with Wildflower and four years later with We Will Always Love You, with Wildflower topping the ARIA Albums Chart.

Fresh from performing at Primavera Sound Barcelona and their first-ever live show in Mexico, The Avalanches have several DJ sets lined up across Europe with more dates to be announced soon, hopefully including Australia.
