On the heels of Sampa the Great's Australian live return at Move My Way Festival last weekend, the ARIA award winner has today shared her new single 'Location', the third track taken from her upcoming album Nu Zamrock, out Friday 30 October via Loma Vista Recordings.

'Location' is another demonstration of Sampa's visceral lyrical skill, with the MC showcasing her intricate wordplay over a Zamrock-inspired production.

"While African music influences the world, the infrastructure rarely supports its creators. This song confronts the global imbalance - and the cost of creating outside the West," says Sampa the Great.

Nu Zamrock is executive produced by Grammy Award winner Cadenza and was born out of Sampa reconnecting with her family back in Zambia and rediscovering her identity.

"Zamrock is part of my family legacy," Sampa says. "It's my voice. Being Zambian, being loud, being defiant — that’s what Zamrock is.

"Nu Zamrock is not nostalgia. It is the future remembering where it came from. This album is a reclamation of my lineage and bloodline: it is my homage to the disruptive, rebellious spirit that Zamrock represented at its peak and carried Zambia forward with, reintroducing the genre to the world, in my own way."

Making her mark with her 2019 debut album The Return, which won three ARIA Awards, Sampa the Great followed up three years later with the critically acclaimed As Above, So Below.

The upcoming Nu Zamrock continues Sampa's evolving sound and growth as an artist and arrives as the rapper enters the prime of her career as a creative.
