European experimental folk music ensemble Heilung are heading back to Australia and New Zealand in 2027.

The band, whose live shows are more like rituals, with elaborate costumes, ancient instruments and hypnotising vocals, have recently returned from a hiatus and are back in the studio working on new material.

Heilung's upcoming tour includes support from German-American singer-songwriter Lilith Max.

Locking in seven shows across March, Heilung open their tour with two special concerts at the Sydney Opera House on Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 March.

Heilung then performs on Thursday 4 March at Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, followed by shows at Brisbane's Riverstage on Saturday 6 March, Adelaide's AEC Theatre on Tuesday 9 March and Perth's Red Hill Auditorium on Friday 12 March, with the tour finishing up in New Zealand at Spark Arena in Auckland on Tuesday 16 March.

Sydney Opera House pre-sale begins at 12pm AEDT on Wednesday 21 October, followed by the general on-sale at 9am AEDT on Friday 23 October.

Early bird pre-sale for all shows (excluding Sydney) commences at 9am AEDT on Tuesday 27 October, followed by the general on-sale (excluding Sydney) at 9am AEDT on Thursday 29 October. Ticketing information is available at destroyalllines.com.

Formed in 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Heilung describe their experimental folk sound as "amplified history", drawing on traditional European music and ancient German texts from the Iron and Viking Age.

Led by founding member Kai Uwe Faust, the collective also includes vocalist Maria Franz and producer Christopher Juul, with Faust explaining that the philosophy behind Heilung reaches far beyond music.

"With singing these primordial songs we want to give tribute to these cultures, reconnect to the beginnings and remember that we all, from East to West, from past to present, are connected through the exchange of ideas and inspiring each other," Faust says.

As they prepare to embark on the next chapter in their remarkable musical evolution, Heilung's Australian and New Zealand tour allows fans to experience their extraordinary rituals live in the flesh.

Catch Heilung performing at AEC Theatre on Tuesday 9 March. Ticketing information is available at destroyalllines.com.
