After announcing his first new album in 14 years, Cross Off Matthew, out Friday 23 October via Run For Cover Records/Civilians, cult rapper GDP has shared the album's latest single, 'Seroquel', and announced an Australian tour.

Following lead track 'Island In The Sky', the New Jersey MC's latest is a moody, boom bap sampling throwback stream of consciousness.

"This was another one of those songs that sort of wrote itself, which is always the goal but not always the reality," explailns GDP. "Conceptually, it is but a glimpse into some of the thoughts that pass in between my ears when I walk through the world. Questions with no logical answer. The bitter but sweet, funny but sad, ironies of the human condition.

"I made the beat on a train from Osaka to Kyoto and couldn't hear what I was doing very well but when I got to my hotel room, I was pleasantly surprised. The music video was loosely inspired by an old Robert Frank short film and more generally, the turbulent synchronicity of New York streets. The visual jazz. I wanted to freeze frame a tiny sliver of the dance and pay homage to the everyday heroes, the myriad of strangers who act as the paint on the city's turbid canvas. An abundance so overwhelming, you might miss it you don't take a moment to stop and look around."

Cross Off Matthew is the first proper GDP album since 2013's Holla and examines vices, interpersonal relationships, late-stage capitalism and the difficulties of trying to live a creative life in the current world.

"I'm older, arguably wiser, but that creative fire stayed with me," GDP says. "I wanted to make something that felt nuanced, something that I could feel proud of."
