Death Cab For Cutie Share Official Video for 'Stone Over Water' Ahead of Australian Tour

American indie titans Death Cab for Cutie have shared the official music video for their single 'Stone Over Water', the latest track taken from their highly praised eleventh studio album, I Built You A Tower.

Speaking about the track, the band says, "If you've ever had to try and convince yourself and everyone around you that you're ok when you are most definitely not, this song is for you."

The animated music video was directed and created by musician and animator Sean Solomon and inspired by cartoonists who use visual gags, like Sergio Aragonés's drawings in MAD Magazine.

"I normally animate music videos for my own songs, but I found this song incredibly personal, even though it wasn't mine," says Solomon.

"I think everyone can relate to the little man in the video having a bad day. But I wanted the video to ultimately have a positive message even though it's sad. Everyone is going through something, and sometimes helping others can be a way to get out of our own heads and remember we’re not alone."

The band's latest album, I Built You A Tower, is their first independent release after two decades with Atlantic Records. Produced and engineered by John Congleton and recorded at Animal Rites in Los Angeles as well as the band members' homes in Seattle, Bellingham, Los Angeles and Portland, the album feels like a return to Death Cab's roots.

After more than seven years, Death Cab for Cutie have announced their Australian return, playing three shows in support of I Built You A Tower this November.

Joined on the road by Naarm/Melbourne dream-pop act Acopia, the band's I Built You A Tower Tour kicks off at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on Thursday 12 November, followed by shows at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne on Friday 13 November and Brisbane's Fortitude Music Hall on Sunday 15 November
