Laneway Festival 2027 Lineup Predictions

There's been good and bad news when it comes to Laneway Festival 2027.

First, the bad news: the festival won't be coming to Adelaide and Perth. Yeah, it sucks, and it's not fair, but it is what it is. Those keen to head along will have to travel interstate, unfortunately.

The good news is we now know when and where the festival is taking place. Earlier this week, organisers revealed Laneway is returning to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland, with all the deets found here.

But what fans really want to know is who is playing next year's fest. After stacked lineups in recent years balancing mega superstars and emerging artists, the internet is full of rumours about who might be taking to the stage at Laneway 2027.

We don't have a clue, but that hasn't stopped the team at The Note picking the artists we think (and hope) will be playing next year.

Sabrina Carpenter

After Charli xcx and Chappell Roan headlined the past two Laneway lineups, securing someone of Sabrina Carpenter's ilk would be another big tick for the festival.

Last year's Man's Best Friend continued her ascent towards the top of the popstar rankings, and with the singer-songwriter not having toured here in several years, she would make a fantastic headliner.

The only reason why she might not play Laneway is due to her being able to sell out her own shows in an arena, but if it's good enough for Charli and Chappell, why not Sabrina?

Hayley Williams

Best known as the lead singer of Paramore, Hayley Williams has been touring the globe this year in support of her 2025 solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party.

Paramore is probably a little too emo for Laneway, so Williams performing solo fits well with the festival's overall vibe. She's also yet to head down under without her band, which is another reason why we believe she might be making the trip in February.

Sam Fender

This one is unlikely due to the Newcastle product wanting to head back into the studio and start writing new songs, but considering the amount of success he's achieved this year with the Olivia Rodrigo duet 'Rein Me In', there's definitely an audience keen to check Sam Fender out live.

We caught the singer-songwriter when he played Adelaide at the tail end of 2025 and called his headline concert a "thrilling set of anthemic tunes that left everyone wanting more." Please Sam, can we have some more?

Radio Free Alice

Things are heating up for Naarm/Melbourne indie outfit Radio Free Alice. The quartet have just announced the release of their debut album What’s In Between and are about to start their tour of the UK and Europe.

The band have been cult favourites for many years, but the release of What's In Between is sure to see them blow up big time, and what better way to capture this momentum than by playing Laneway.

While their own headline national tour is surely on the cards, a spot on the Laneway bill makes just as much sense.

Florence + The Machine

Florence is another one of those artists who released new music in the past couple of years (2025's Everybody Scream) and hasn't toured Australia recently, so it just makes sense for her to be discussed as a potential headliner.

She's also topped the bill twice before, in 2010 and 2019, so why not get her back for another crack at topping the bill? There wouldn't be many complaints.

Slayyyter

American artist Slayyyter has been the talk of the town after her triple j Like A Version cover of Hole's 'Violet' went viral.

While she just played select cities in Australia earlier this month, the response was overwhelmingly positive, so getting her back in February as part of Laneway is good business.

Magdalena Bay

The duo of romantic partners Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin are responsible for some incredible synth-pop tunes over the past five years.

While their fanbase has slowly grown since the release of their 2021 debut album Mercurial World, it was a slew of double singles released last year that really pushed them into the mainstream.

Touring alongside Hayley Williams, another possible Laneway artist, they have a clear schedule to start next year and would be a welcome lineup addition.

sombr

Aussie audiences fell in love with sombr last year.

The 21-year-old bedroom producer, singer and songwriter performed to packed crowds as part of Spilt Milk festival while also headlining his own shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

He's spent most of 2026 on the road, touring his debut album You Are the Reason, and has no gigs planned for February next year.

Adding him to the Laneway lineup would be a great outcome for fans, as he really hits the target demo.

MUNA

2026 has been one hell of a year for MUNA.

The American indie pop trio of Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson have gone from cult act to mainstream players, with their fourth album Dancing on the Wall getting great traction and cracking the Billboard 200.

Not only is their music top tier, but their live shows are known to get pretty wild, and that's just the type of energy we need at Laneway.

Chanel Beads

Who's keen for some dreamy bedroom pop?

Chanel Beads, otherwise known as Shane Lavers, has emerged from New York City's DIY scene with an experimental pop sound that resonates with listeners.

Well received when he toured Australia earlier this year as part of Sydney's Vivid and Melbourne's RISING festival, we'd love the chance to see him as part of Laneway, performing tracks from this year's Your Day Will Come.

Fontaines D.C.

Fontaines D.C. are officially in album rollout mode.

The Irish rockers are preparing for the release of their fifth longplayer, Dopamine Chamber, and are already hyping fans with the release of the single 'Marianne', their first new track since 2025's 'It's Amazing to Be Young'.

Australian audiences love them, and playing a festival is a great way for the band to enjoy some sun down under.

Rosalía

Whenever we make festival lineup predictions, we like to throw in a wild card. This is usually an artist we are all obsessed with but think there is zero chance of them playing. For Laneway Festival 2027, that artist is Rosalía.

The Spanish singer-songwriter released one of the best albums of 2025 (Lux) and has spent this year taking the album on the road, playing shows across Europe, South America and North America.

She is a modern phenomenon whose live shows are more like blockbuster productions with all the bells and whistles supported by her deep and personal songs.

Having seen her in the flesh for her mesmerising performance at Coachella in 2023, we have all our limbs crossed for a Rosalía headline spot.
