In the Green Room: Nice Day To Go To the Club

Daybed Records have teamed up with legendary radio host Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald to wow crowds with an all-new festival. We get a vibe-check from Daybed’s Tom Redden

We’re stoked to hear about Nice Day To Go To The Club. What can punters expect from the new festival?

Well, it’s a pretty big line-up! We’re running two stages, so there’s going to be live music at you all day. It’s going to be held at the Port Noarlunga Football club, somewhere you probably wouldn’t expect to see live music, but that’s what we like to do. It’s going to be massive.

What vibe are you going for?

It’s got a very punk-rock, pub-garage-rock-orientated line-up. It’s based on what the music scene in the area used to be like in the ’90s and early 2000s.

There’s a cool mix of big names, interstate acts and local artists. How’d you develop the line-up?

Fitzy has really good taste in music. He’s also been mates with Bad Dreems and Cosmic Psychos for years, so they were super-keen. From there, we had bands in the local scene that we were psyched about and knew were producing good music. We’re looking forward to catching The 745, the young groms from the mid-coast Stellar, and there’s a secret act joining the line-up soon...

The festival also has a philanthropic streak to it, raising funds to finish the Port Noarlunga Sports complex. Tell us more about this decision.

Fitzy decided to put on this festival as a fundraiser for the football club to help finish off their new facilities. Every gig we’ve put on so far we’ve done because we wanted to raise funds for something or donate a portion of ticket sales to a cause we’re interested in. For this one, because we’re based in that local community, it ties in really well with what we’re about.
