What five songs would you take to a desert island?

1. Peanut Butter Crack Babies – 'Beer & Self Loathing (In Torn Bathers)'

It's impossible not to jump around to this one, and a song about self-loathing shouldn't make me as happy as this does. I've probably played it more than any other song on my show, and it makes me smile every time.

2. LOLA – 'Tease Me'

Honestly, I could have chosen any LOLA song, they're all so good, but their debut single holds a special place in my heart. They’re everyone's favourite Adelaide band for a reason. They should bring back the shirts and ties though.

3. TOWNHOUSE – 'Better Now'

There are so many things to love about this song; the lyrics, the music, the vocals, everything works so well. It's a brilliant track from a phenomenal EP and I don't think I’d ever get bored of it.

4. Molly Rocket – 'Kiss You Dead'

This song is absolute perfection. I'll sit under a tree on this desert island and just be amazed by how good it is.

5. Tim Moore – 'Wind Phone'

This one is a gorgeous track that goes through an amazing story. Tim writes incredible lyrics, and I'll listen to this song on the island instead of an audiobook.

If you could only pick one, what would it be?

I'll go with Peanut Butter Crack Babies' 'Beer & Self Loathing (In Torn Bathers)', just to maintain my fitness levels on the island by jumping around to it.

What’s your favourite album?

STORK – Let the Boys Eat. I profess my love of this album to anyone who'll listen. It's Mid Coast punk that takes me straight back to growing up on the beaches around Victor. The album just sounds like South Australia and every song’s a gem. Catchy, noisy and fun with just the right amount of nostalgia.

What's your favourite song by an SA artist or band?

Jongo Bones and the Barefoot Bandits – 'Friendsday'. I love this one so much, it captures the feeling of hanging out with mates so perfectly that you can almost taste the West End while you listen to it.

Favourite music-related memory?

Geez, there are so many. The very first Adelaide Big Day Out back in '93 on a 42-degree day; Pirate Life's 10th birthday, that had a brilliant local line-up and was a blast. Seeing John Craigie play in front of a handful of people at The Grace was magical, and getting to see NOFX and Bad Religion together at Thebby was the best. Oh, and watching my mate Kirk fall asleep during The Cure's set at the Entertainment Centre. But probably my favourite would have to be getting to see my teenage son's band, Handouts, open for Frenzal Rhomb at the Gov last month. That was definitely a proud dad moment, so I'll go with that – or maybe any live set by Brad Chicken and the Bootstraps.
