What five songs would you take to a desert island?

1. 'Steam' or 'Bad Bad News' – Leon Bridges. I could listen to that guitar solo forever.

2. 'I'm In Love With You' or Somebody Else' or 'Robbers' of literally ANYTHING by The 1975. I don't care how excessively large Matty Healy's ego is, I love that band.

3. 'Places To Be' – Fred again.. I'd have to choose something by Fred again.. and it’s tough to choose which one, but I'll go with that because it features Anderson .Paak, who deserves to be top 5.

4. 'You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire' – Queens of the Stone Age. Or anything off Songs for the Deaf.

5. 'Roquefort' – Karnivool. I feel like I cheated on that question.

If you could only pick one, what would it be?

Probably 'You Think I Ain’t Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire', but then I'd end up hating the song. I'm not a big one for playing songs to death. I'm big on playing Songs for the Deaf though... see what I did there? IYKYK.

What’s your favourite album?

Sound Awake by Karnivool. My gateway album into heavy music; Disco Dave gave me this for my birthday one year, I think (definitely not a burnt copy... ahem). For Emma, Forever Ago by Bon Iver. I would've never appreciated this album had it not been for Logan playing it in the background at a house gath when we were teenagers. This and Bon Iver's Blood Bank EP are slow burners for me and paid back massively because I accidentally gave them the time they deserved. Currents was a game changer and put Tame Impala on the global map for good reason. It was risky on multiple levels (their first single of it was nearly eight mins...who the hell does that???), it pushed boundaries, it felt like new territory, yet it was palatable. So good. Songs for the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age was sent to me by post (how old skool) from my uncle in Tasmania. He told me it would blow my mind. It did. It's Never Been Like That or Alphabetical by Phoenix, for which I have formative memories filled with sheesha, Malibu, TEDs and Mi Goreng across several weekends at Tommy G’s place. I've just realised this wasn't a "What's your five favourite albums" question...shit I cheated again.

What’s your favourite song by an SA artist or band?

Unfair, so much talent here in SA! 'Let You Know' by Dojo Rise, or ANYTHING else by them, just puts everyone in a good mood! Also have to mention 'Loco' by WANDERERS; anything aleksiah releases is gold; same with Tullies and TOWNS. Ooh this is dangerous, I could go on for a VERY long time. Ooh EVERYTHING by Pinkish Blu. Ok I’ll stop. West Theb, Horror My Friend... Ahh. I’m stopping now.

Favourite music-related memory?

I actually LOVE working in the music industry and have had so many pinch me moments. But from a punter perspective, seeing Rage Against The Machine at Big Day Out was wild. The whole show was MAX energy from start to finish and 'Killing In The Name' had literally all 20-billion of us jumping in sync.
