South Australia’s oldest camera shop, PhotoCo Camera House, is once again hosting the Adelaide Camera Expo (ACE), the state's most popular and largest annual photography event.
Running from Friday 21 to Saturday 22 September at the Adelaide Central Markets, photography enthusiasts can expect two days of workshops, camera displays, keynote speakers and equipment demonstrations in the heart of the CBD.
The ACE also includes South Australia’s only annual second-hand vintage market dedicated to photography, with all the leading brands, such as Nikon, Canon and Leica, involved in the weekend.
This year’s event is the first time since its launch in 2018 that the ACE will be held across two days, with the first dedicated to interactive workshops and photo walks led by industry experts. The second day features the full expo, with a range of talks and product demos. It’s also the best time for networking opportunities with manufacturers and photography fans mingling together.
The full list of guest speakers includes Australian of the Year and award-winning director Scott Hicks, Adam Edwards, John Adams, Kelly Cestari, Jack Fenby, Grace Liu, Matt Krumins and Darren Centrofani.
Tickets for the Adelaide Camera Expo are just $5, with all proceeds donated to The Adelaide Day Centre for Homeless Persons. Those who purchase tickets before Friday 19 September will go into the draw for $7,500 worth of door prizes.

“Preparations for the Adelaide Camera Expo (ACE), the largest annual photography event in South Australia, have been underway since December 2024, with all the necessary arrangements now nearing completion. “Here, you can find rare and unique vintage treasures alongside cutting-edge new technology on display and for demos from all leading brands. Attendees can engage in hands-on demonstrations and gain insights from sessions led by distinguished guest speakers.”
PhotoCo Camera House has been operating since 1967, becoming the go-to camera store for photography fans.
The ACE came out as a response to customers who thought a photography expo like those held in Melbourne and Sydney would be a great fit for Adelaide. PhotoCo Camera House store owner and manager Luke Bulley set about organising such an event, with the first taking place in 2018.
Proving to be a massive success, the ACE has gone from strength to strength each year, with the 2024 edition selling over 700 tickets.
