Grab a sangria and some tapas and get ready for three weeks of Spanish delights when the 2025 HSBC Spanish Film Festival hits Adelaide next month.
Taking over Palace Nova cinemas from June 11 to July 2, the 2025 program is a doozy, with a diverse range of flicks that will tickle everyone’s fancy.
Opening night is headlined by the comedy Samana Sunrise (Amanece en Samaná), featuring an all-star cast including Luis Zahera, María Luisa Mayol, Luis Tosar and Bárbara Santa-Cruz, while the centrepiece of this year’s festival is biographical drama EL 47, which won five Goya Awards, including the coveted Best Film.
The 2025 Special Presentation is Undercover (La infiltrada), a gripping crime thriller based on the life of Aranzazu Berradrer Marín, the only Spanish cop to infiltrate the terrorist organisation ETA.
Other highlights of this year’s program include romantic drama Ocho (8), the Steven Soderbergh executive-produced class drama The Quiet Maid (Calladita), the Eduard Fernández starring moral thriller Marco, the Invented Truth (Marco), drama I Am Nevenka (Soy Nevenka), and Spanish comedy and box office #1, Wolfgang (Wolfgang Extraordinario).

The Cine Lantino selection of films includes Argentinian crime thriller A Silent Death (Una muerte silenciosa), quirky thriller El Jockey and Argentinian box office smash Mazel Tov.
The 2025 HSBC Spanish Film Festival also has a wide offering of documentaries, including the award-winning Mugaritz. No Bread, No Dessert (Mugaritz. Sin pan ni postre), which goes behind the scenes of Michelin starred restaurant Mugaritz, and The Flamenco Guitar of Yerai Cortés, which explores the passion and artistic process of a rising flamenco star.
This year’s festival also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the classic crime thriller Nine Queens (Nueve reinas) with a 4K remastered screening of the Ricardo Darín and Gaston Pauls starring film.
The 2025 HSBC Spanish Film Festival will take place across Adelaide from 11 June to 2 July at Palace Nova Eastend Cinemas and Palace Nova Prospect Cinemas. Check out the full program and purchase tickets here.
